| Sunday 28th January 2001 |
| We, that
is.... Jared and I headed down to the foyer of the hotel
at 8:30am for group photos before the others left on the
rest of their tour. Their next stop was San Simeon. The
English couple and us were the only ones not going. At
least for the rest of the trip Mila could do her
        commentary totally in German.
Jared had run straight up to George to give him a big hug... but I missed it with the camera but this on is just as good..
I actually think George would have missed Jared on the rest of the journey. We ordered a limousine (why Not!) to take us to the Getty Museum. The Museum was really interesting for adults but not for children. Jared was fascinated with the garden...
which was magnificent. The photo doesn't do it justice. We, Jared and I, had an "altercation" about his touching the exhibits... HE got in a MOOD (George.... I need you now!!!) and disappeared into the elevator. I couldn't believe the little brat was doing this. We lost him of course... and spent half an hour looking for him, then I decided to go to the front desk. THEY had been looking for US but the description Jared had given them was nothing like us. (Does that tell you anything??? Maybe he didn't want them to find us <grin>) I wasn't laughing... I can assure you! They had found him crying (GOOD!) and he was now in their office playing on the computer! When he heard us coming he hid under the desk. I said "Come on, Jared!" The little so and so replied: "You're not going to slap me AGAIN are you??!!" "Slap you AGAIN!!??? What ARE YOU talking about! Maybe a slap is what you need, you had us worried sick!" At this point on of the men in the office "advised" me: "We have laws against hitting children in THIS country." My response: "YES! And that's why YOU have NO control over them!" I haven't hit this one yet BUT if he pulls another stunt like this I won't let your laws stop me." Of course, a good hiding is what he needed but I wasn't game in front of all those people and of course my anger wore off by the time I had the opportunity. They're like puppies... you have to chastise them at the time.... not hours later, it loses it's impact. *S* We headed back to the tram to take us down to the limousine which was waiting to return us to the hotel.
This is a view of L.A. from the Getty Museum, During dinner that night we decided to go to Long Beach tomorrow, under our own steam... on the train. |
